Press Release: Royal Canadian Legion Smiths Falls
Dear Supporter,
Ho, Ho, Ho, it’s that time of year for the Smiths Falls Santa Claus Parade This Year’s Theme is “Disney“. The parade will take place on Saturday, December 11th, 2021 commencing at 5:00 pm.
Traditionally, merchants of the Town of Smiths Falls have participated and supported this event with a donation. While the Royal Canadian Legion hosts the parade we are always seeking additional support.
This letter is an invitation for you to participate in this program by offering a monetary donation to help offset the expenditure of the marching bands and parade expenses.
Floats may arrive after 3 pm at the Youth Arena parking lot. Volunteers will be at the entrances, please check-in upon arrival, as instructions will be given out at this time.
Final judging of the floats will be done at the Youth Arena parking lot between 4:00 pm and 4:30 pm, so please have your entry ready on time. The judges will place signs on the winning floats and a plaque will be presented at Settlers Ridge Centre.
The five categories are Best Overall Entry, Best Theme Entry, Best Non-Commercial Entry, Most Original Entry and Best Commercial Entry.
We encourage you to be creative and incorporate this year’s theme “Disney”. Music & lights on your float would be awesome, but most importantly have FUN decorating your float!!
NO HANDOUTS.
We encourage all kinds of entertainment, PLEASE NO LIVE SANTA ON FLOATS OR DRESSED VEHICLES. We ask everyone who is entering a float (MAX HEIGHT FOR FLOATS 13FT), marching group or anything else to please Pre-Register (no fees) by calling the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 95 at 613-283-2690 or email rcloffice95@gmail.com as it is important to know how many floats are participating for directorial purposes.
